Global Timber
story and
milestones

Global Timber A/S is a well-established and independent, Danish-owned company, suppling hardwood, with four partners in our management. With individual competencies and years of experiences in global trading of hardwood, they represent a great team with a profound knowledge about the business of hardwood.

Founded in 2006, the company emerged from Internationalt Hårdttræ, a timber company whose roots stretch back to the 1970s. In 1972, Lars Munch Christensen, a well-known figure in the timber industry and for a period, partner in Global Timber, founded Internationalt Hårdttræ.
Global Timber’s two founders Kasper Fredsted and Peter Bæk, were both apprentices at Internationalt Hårdttræ. Anders Bitzer and Søren Vinther joined Global Timber as partners at a later stage. Global Timber’s partners saw the potential in the market for a globally oriented company. The management operates and develops the enterprise, based on a respected business model that includes ethics and the development and maintenance of trade relationships.

In 2013 Per Friis Knudsen established an office in Petaling Jaya, close to Kuala Lumpur, from where he has developed hardwood trade in Southeast Asia, notably in Indonesia and Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.

Global Timbers origin began in Denmark in 1974. After operating as a representative office in five years, the first of January 2018, we registered Global Timber Asia Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia, whom Per Friis Knudsen became our Director of our Asian activities.
